Job Description

NIMAS BUSINESS SOLUTIONS is a consulting firm that provides comprehensive support to businesses through expertise in business planning and strategy, marketing and development, accounting and financial management, monitoring and evaluation, and socio-economic baseline surveys, along with other business support services that drive strategy, operations, and regulatory compliance. The organization is seeking qualified professionals for an exciting socio-economic research project in Western Province, Zambia. If you are passionate about rural development, research, and community engagement, we invite you to apply for the following positions:

1. Team Leader – Rural Development Specialist

Location: Western Province, Zambia (Mongu, Nalolo, Limulunga, Senanga, Kaoma, Luampa, Sioma, Shangombo)
Duration: 11 weeks (with possibility of extension)
Reports To: Principal Consultant / Project Director

Key Responsibilities:

Provide overall leadership for the baseline study.
Lead the development and finalization of research methodology.
Coordinate stakeholder engagement and traditional leader consultations.
Supervise fieldwork quality, timelines, and compliance with research ethics.
Draft key sections of the report and provide strategic guidance to team members.
Qualifications:

MSc in Rural Development, Development Studies, or related field.
At least 5 years’ experience in socio-economic and rural livelihoods research.
Demonstrated experience managing large, multi-district research teams.
Deep familiarity with rural Zambia; knowledge of Lozi is a strong advantage.
Excellent report writing, coordination, and leadership skills.

2. Quantitative Research Lead

Location: Western Province, Zambia
Duration: 10 weeks
Reports To: Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

Design statistically sound household survey and sampling frameworks.
Oversee enumerator training and digital data collection implementation.
Conduct rigorous data analysis using SPSS, Stata, or R.
Prepare summary statistics, visualizations, and inputs for the final report.
Qualifications:

BSc in Biostatistics, Demography, Economics, or related field.
5+ years experience in large-scale survey design and data management.
Proven ability to develop mobile survey tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK).
Experience in quality control, coding, and error-checking protocols.

3. GIS and Infrastructure Mapping Expert

Location: Western Province, Zambia
Duration: 8 weeks
Reports To: Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

Design GIS data collection protocols for infrastructure and service points.
Train enumerators in GPS data collection and coordinate spatial data validation.
Produce detailed maps of community services, roads, grazing lands.
Conduct spatial overlays for vulnerability and access mapping.
Qualifications:

BSc or higher in Environmental Science, Geography, or GIS.
Minimum 8 years in GIS mapping with strong skills in QGIS or ArcGIS.
Experience mapping remote and rural infrastructure in Zambia.
Familiarity with rural transport and infrastructure constraints.

4. Community Engagement & Anthropology Specialist

Location: Western Province, Zambia
Duration: 9 weeks
Reports To: Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

Lead qualitative data collection including FGDs and KIIs.
Engage traditional leaders and community gatekeepers.
Translate and transcribe Lozi/English qualitative data for analysis.
Identify cultural dynamics, gender norms, and social hierarchies relevant to livestock and land use.
Qualifications:

BA in Social Anthropology, Sociology, or Development Studies.
10+ years of experience conducting community-based fieldwork.
Fluent in Lozi and English (both spoken and written).
Proven record working in the Western Province.

5. M&E and Data Quality Lead

Location: Western Province, Zambia
Duration: 10 weeks
Reports To: Quantitative Research Lead

Key Responsibilities:

Develop data quality assurance protocols and checklists.
Monitor daily uploads and performance of field teams.
Provide technical support for digital tools and troubleshoot errors.
Contribute to analysis and review of data integrity in the final report.
Qualifications:

Postgraduate Diploma in M&E, BSc in Demography or Statistics.
8+ years managing M&E systems, field supervision, and data verification.
Expertise in KoboToolbox, ODK, and Excel-based validation.
Strong attention to detail and familiarity with rural research ethics.

6. Enumerators and Field Supervisors (24 Positions)

Location: District-Based (Mongu, Nalolo, Limulunga, Senanga, Kaoma, Luampa, Sioma, Shangombo)
Duration: 4 weeks (Full-time, field-based)

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct household interviews using digital data collection tools.
Capture GPS coordinates of key infrastructure and homesteads.
Participate in training, role-plays, and field testing activities.
Work with district supervisors to ensure accuracy and daily uploads.
Qualifications:

Grade 12 Certificate minimum; Diploma or Degree preferred.
Prior survey experience in rural communities.
Fluent in English and at least one local language (Lozi preferred).
Ability to work long hours in remote, logistically challenging areas.
