Job Title: Internal Auditor

Job Summary:

The Internal Auditor will be responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the financial institution. This role involves conducting audits, analyzing data, and providing recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and compliance with regulations.

  • Objectively review an organization’s business processes
  • Evaluate the efficacy of risk management procedures that are currently in place
  • Protect against fraud and theft of the organization’s assets
  • Ensure that the organization is complying with relevant laws and statutes
  • Make recommendations on how to improve internal controls and governance processes
  • Keeping all members of staff accountable regarding internal company procedures and industry rules
  • Carefully examine company documents and data to identify issues like regulatory noncompliance, data inaccuracies, and employee theft
  • Communicate with corporate and operational personnel to develop appropriate recommendations for internal control and process enhancements
  • All other duties that may be stipulated in the job description or assigned by
    management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Audit Planning: Develop and implement annual audit plans based on risk assessments.
  • Audit Execution: Perform the full audit cycle, including risk management, control management, and financial reliability.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable directives, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Data Analysis: Obtain, analyze, and evaluate accounting documentation, reports, data, and flowcharts.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present audit reports that reflect audit results and document the process.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify and assess areas of significant business risk and propose improvements.
  • Recommendations: Provide recommendations and guidance on addressing control weaknesses and process inefficiencies.
  • Follow-Up: Conduct follow-up audits to monitor management’s interventions.
  • Communication: Maintain open communication with management and the audit committee.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques, and performance standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Certification: ZICA, ACCA, CPA, CIA, or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in internal auditing, preferably within the financial sector.

Skills:

  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and compile detailed reports.
  • Proven knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations.
