Zambeef Products PLC is the largest integrated cold chain food products and agribusiness company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region. It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, stock feed and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.

1. ASSISTANT HATCHERY MANAGER – ZAMHATCH (1)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

• Physically verification of eggs received and dispatched into and out of cold room against relevant documentation. Report any variance found when receiving eggs from sites to the Manager and notify the driver.
• Physically verification of eggs in cold rooms against stock sheets at close of each day.
• Accurately recording and analysis of flocks put on trays.
• Maintenance of traying standards as per procedure to ensure maximum recovery of hatching eggs.
• Accurately labelling of eggs, completion of setter cards, and incubation records.
• Planning of sets for full house placements as far as possible.
• Continually checking and ensuring eggs are trayed to standard.
• Ensuring cold rooms, traying area, and setter bay temperature and humidity is to standard.
• Ensuring that egg stock is rotated to keep egg ages as low as possible.
• Ensuring that eggs are set into the correct sections and stages, and that the correct eggs are removed for transfer.
• Ensuring accurate and timeous hourly, daily, and weekly checking’s are done on incubators.
• Verification of eggs to cards when transferring and recording of breakages on the card.
• Ensuring that egg breakouts are done, and the results are reported to Hatcheries Manager.
• Ensuring that Laboure’s are thorough in their removal of cracks and bangers at transfer.
• Checking hatchers are operating correctly before and after transfer.
• Monitoring chick grading, quality, and quantity. Eggs must be collected for break-out.
• Maintenance of vaccine ordering, preparation, application and usage controls.
• Ensuring accurate documentation in his/her section.
• Ensuring no waste of materials and chemicals.
• Ensuring all personnel shower into the hatchery and wear only Company protective clothing. No company protective clothing is to be taken home.

The Required Qualifications are:

• A Full Grade 12,
• 3 – 5 years working experience in a Broiler Hatchery.
• Diploma in Animal Science or better
• An electrical qualification will be added advantage
• Must be paid up and registered member of the Agriculture Institution of Zambia (AIZ)
• MS Excel and Outlook proficient.

The Required Attributes Include:

• Good numeric and writing skills required.
• Good communication ability in English required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills required.
• Excellent knowledge of the incubation process.

2. BOILER MAKER – ZAMHATCH (1)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

• Carrying out construction and maintenance works at zamhatch plant workshop, hatchery rearing and laying.
• Interpreting the drawings
• Doing laying out and drawing down before the actual work.
• Assembling and erecting steel structure at any given site.
• Fabricating and welding steel components.
• Modifying parts of earth Moving machine tractors and chick truck.
• Installing metal structure component.
• Calculating the quantity of the material of the given task.
• Following all health and safety regulation.
• Fabricating steel structure e.g. upright columns, trusses, bracket trolleys, and egg basket.
• Gas cutting, gas welding, brazing welding all type at electrodes.
• Operating all fabrication workshop machines.
• Working at height.

The Required Qualifications are:

• A Grade 12 certificate
• Minimum certificate in metal fabrication/boiler making
• 2 years’ experience
• Being able to cut/weld/fabricate

The Required Attributes Include:

• Able to read and write.
• Computer literate is an added advantage

3. ASSISTANT BREDER MANAGER – ZAMHATCH (1)

The Required Skills for this Role Include:

• Conducting and reviewing meetings with the staff
• Checking the marking the attendance register
• Testing alarms
• Checking poultry house light program
• Ensuring repairs / breakdowns are completed and reporting to the Breeder Manager
• Ensuring birds are fed and ventilation is set
• Receiving Feed. Dispatch eggs
• Planning, organize and manage cropping activities on the farm to meet the set objectives.
• Promoting culture of continuous improvement across the Farm section
• Ensuring talent and performance management is done across the farm
• Attracting, developing and retaining a highly skilled and committed arable workforce

The Required Qualifications are:

• A Grade 12 certificate
• Certificate / Diploma in Animal Production
• Additional training in management skills would be advantageous
• 3 years or more in broiler breeder production including rearing and breeding
• Must be paid up and registered member of the Agriculture Institution of Zambia (AIZ)
• MS Excel and Outlook proficient.

The Required Attributes Include:

• Good communication skills
•  Ensuring office block, showers are clean
• Weighing eggs and ensuring all eggs are collected. Over seven collections per day
• Entering eggs produced in reproductive record and egg dispatch book
• Checking cold room in the morning, Midday and afternoon
•  Checking water availability, 3 times a day
•  Ensuring site is neat and clean at all times
•  Ensuring birds are weighed correctly
• Executing excellent stockman ship
