Assistant Network Administrator

JOB SUMMARY:
A staff member of RPS Limited Company and its related parties with the ultimate duty to support the Network Administrator in the area of designing, organizing, installing, and supporting a company’s computer systems. Designs and installs LANs, WANs, Internet and intranet systems, and network segments.
The position holder is required to have knowledge of Network Performance Change, LAN Knowledge, Network Design and Implementation, Troubleshooting, Multi-tasking, Quality Focus, Technical Understanding, Quick Learning, Technical Zeal, and must be a Team Player. This individual must uphold ICT best practices to ensure the company maintains an acceptable IT service quality, enabling the operations of all departments to thrive.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Managing and maintaining IT hardware and software systems effectively.
- Providing maintenance and support for desktop hardware, networked printers, photocopiers, and related peripherals.
- Addressing IT-related issues for end users across the organization and its subsidiaries.
- Rolling out hardware and software in a manner that ensures optimal deployment of resources.
- Supporting the network and computing infrastructure.
- Assisting with technology planning in collaboration with the Network Administrator.
- Conducting routine checks and troubleshooting hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal downtime for end users.
- Installing, maintaining, and upgrading operating systems across devices.
- Collaborating with the Network Administrator to design and implement system upgrades and expansions.
- Maintaining and regularly updating the inventory of IT devices.
- Overseeing the operation and maintenance of computing systems. ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of hardware, software, and network infrastructure.
- Performing regular backups of software programs, routers, and server configurations.
- Monitoring and safeguarding IT systems to protect against data loss or breaches.
- Ensuring optimal running and performance of servers.
- Joining Computers to the RPS Domain.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & PERSONAL COMPETENCIES:
Preferred Professional Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 certificate with 5 Credits or better.
- Holder of at least a Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science.
- Any Other Appropriate Qualification, such as CISCO CCNA Certification, ICT Security, Programming skills, or their equivalent will be added advantage
Knowledge / Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience.

- Demonstrated working knowledge of current communication devices and protocols, servers and desktop technologies.

- Able to operate under minimum supervision.
