Assistant Security Manager (Kitwe)

Location: Kitwe
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for ensuring that all physical assets are secured from any intrusion, theft, or tempering in line with service level agreements or agreed standards with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Security Manager, the following are among the Job Key Responsibilities;
- Coordinate and monitor the Security measures and resources contracted across the network of clientel.
- Lead and manage a team of security officers to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
- Assign tasks and oversee daily operations to ensure compliance with security procedures.
- Efficient execution of assigned tasks within your department.
- Assist in operating and maintaining security systems and equipment, including radios, Guns and other security equipment.
- Preparation of incident reports, including gathering witness statements and relevant evidence.
- Maintaining a daily log of activities, noting any unusual occurrences or security-related incidents
- Adherence to company policies and safety standards.
- Proactive problem-solving and adaptability to various challenges
- Monitor and advise on security tools, techniques and methodologies to support business initiatives.
- Implement and sustain effective security technologies and approaches and manage security improvement projects on an ongoing basis.
- Build constructive relationships with the host communities and local law enforcement agencies.
- Communicate the Company’s security best practices to peers and line management.
- Efficiently co-ordinate all intelligence gathering and criminal investigations through to conviction.
- Deliver an efficient physical security service by ensuring that security team provide effective guardship to detect and prevent thefts and unauthorised intrusions.
- Manage the security control room (Guarding Desk) ensuring the effective functioning and deployment of security personnel and equipment to various site locations.
- Preparation of accurate and fit-for-purpose analytical and statistical reports on security operations and activities.
- Incident Management:
• Respond promptly to security breaches, emergencies, and alarms.
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents and liaise with law enforcement when necessary.
Training and Development:
- Conduct regular training sessions for security personnel on safety protocols and procedures.
- Evaluate staff performance and recommend improvements or additional training.
Access Control:
- Ensure only authorized personnel have access to restricted areas.
- Maintain accurate records of visitors and deliveries.
Policy Enforcement:
- Enforce company security policies and procedures among staff and Clients.
Risk Assessment:
- Identify vulnerabilities in the premises and recommend improvements to enhance security measures.
Security Equipment & Procedures:
- Support the Security Officers in conducting routine checks on security equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Participate in security drills and ensure compliance with established security protocols.
Health, Safety & Emergency Assistance:
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies on-site.
- Participate in safety training and drills, learning how to respond effectively to emergencies.
Collaboration with Security Team:
- Work closely with other security personnel to ensure coordinated and effective security coverage throughout the site.
Skills:
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good investigation skills.
- Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with security equipment such as Radios, Guns, CCTV cameras and Alarm systems.
- Physically fit and capable of carrying out patrolling duties.
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in emergencies.
Physical Fitness:
- Physically fit and capable of working long hours or on a rotating shift.
- Background Check: Must have a clean criminal record and provide references.
Availability:
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

Qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 school certificate
- Diploma in a related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in security/ Police Service/ Military, preferably a security firm, or large-scale operational environment.
- Certification in Security
- Knowledge of security procedures, access control, and surveillance systems.
- Familiarity with Zambian laws and regulations related to security, trespassing, and theft prevention.
