TERMS OF REFERENCE (ToR) FOR FINANCE CONSULTANT
1. INTRODUCTION
North Node Consulting Limited (NNC) is a newly established start-up operating in the Digital Transformation space. To establish a robust financial management system, NNC seeks the services of an experienced Accounting and Finance professional to provide consultancy support over a two (2) week period.
2. OBJECTIVE
The objective of this consultancy is to equip NNC staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage all accounting transactions effectively and to implement a compliant and efficient financial system aligned with statutory requirements.
3. SCOPE OF WORK The Finance Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Providing hands-on training to NNC staff on handling accounting transactions and financial records.
- Codifying and structuring the accounting system to support long-term financial management.
- Ensuring NNC staff understand the proper procedures for capturing and posting transactions.
- Implementing a Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA)-compliant Accounting and Finance system.
- Preparing the financial system for statutory reporting and compliance, including all tax obligations.
- Developing financial reporting templates to ensure timely and accurate submission of Corporate Income Tax (CIT), Withholding Tax (WHT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE), National Pension Scheme Authority (NAPSA), and National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) filings.
- Setting up and optimizing the Payroll system to ensure efficiency and compliance with statutory deductions.
- Addressing any additional financial or accounting issues that may arise during the assignment.
4. DELIVERABLES The consultant is expected to deliver the following:
- A structured and codified accounting system tailored to NNC’s needs.
- Training sessions for NNC staff with supporting training materials.
- A functional and ZRA-compliant financial system ready for statutory reporting.
- Financial reporting templates for timely compliance and filing.
- A fully operational payroll system aligned with tax regulations.
- A summary report outlining key actions taken, recommendations, and next steps for continued financial stability.
5. DURATION & LOCATION
The consultancy will be conducted over a period of 10 working days per month for 2 months.
The consultant will work on-site at NNC’s offices in Lusaka or remotely as necessary.
6. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal consultant should possess the following:
- A professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA Zambia).
- At least 5 years of experience in financial management, accounting, or consulting.
- Strong knowledge of Zambia’s tax and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience in setting up accounting systems and training finance personnel.
- Proficiency in financial reporting and payroll management.
- Up-to-date membership of ZICA for 2025

8. REPORTING The consultant will report to the Chief Executive Officer and provide regular updates on progress and key milestones achieved. The consultant will work closely with the Finan ce and Administration Officer for day-to-day operations.
