Job Description

Zambeef Products PLC is the largest integrated cold chain food products and agribusiness company in Zambia and one of the largest in the Southern Africa region. It is involved in the primary production, processing, distribution, and retailing of beef, chicken, pork, eggs, dairy, fish, flour, stockfeed and day-old chicks throughout Zambia and the surrounding region.

COST ACCOUNTANT – HUNTLEY FARM – CHISAMBA (X1)

The Skills Required for this Role Include:

  • Collecting and analysing cost data related to tech materials or services.
  • Developing, tracking, and reporting on standard costs for labour, materials, and overheads.
  • Monitoring acquisition and recharging processes to ensure costs are within budget and identify variances.
  • Preparing cost forecasts and budgets for the Tech Department.
  • Working closely with the operations and production teams to track actual costs against budgeted values.
  • Providing recommendations for cost-saving opportunities based on findings.
  • Monitoring and analysing raw material and finished goods inventory.
    • Helping to maintain accurate inventory records and assisting with periodic physical inventory counts.
  • Ensuring that inventory is appropriately valued and accounted for
  • Reconciliation of inventory movement. i.e., what stock has gone out / returned /not fully utilised
  • Implementing and maintaining costing systems that accurately reflect cost structures.
  • Generating and preparing cost reports, highlighting key insights, variances, and potential areas for improvement.
  • Supporting month-end and year-end closing processes with relevant cost data.
  • Assisting in ensuring that the company’s financial practices comply with industry regulations and accounting standards.
  • Assisting with internal & external audits related to cost management and accounting processes.
  • Collaborating with department heads (e.g., operations, finance) to ensure accurate costing and reporting.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements related to cost control and financial reporting

The Required Qualifications are:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Professional Qualification such as ACCA 2, CA Level 2
  • ZICA Diploma in Accountancy, CIMA Level 2
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in Accounting / Finance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookups, and other financial formulas)
  • Experience with Pastel Evolution
  • Must be a Member of ZICA
