Job Description
The Curriculum Officer is responsible for driving the improvement of teaching and learning resources, and ultimately fostering enhanced student performance and outcomes.
Responsibilities and expectations include:
• Lead the analysis of current data and programing to make informed, strategic decisions on how Impact Network can improve teaching and learning resources and instructional practices in order to increase student performance across all schools.
• Oversee and actively participate in the development, production and distribution of annual and termly teaching and learning resources such as schemes of work, weekly forecast, termly teachers guides, and other materials as needed.
• Oversee and actively participate in the development and implementation of the MoE required subjects included in the Zambian National Syllabus, and Impact Network specific programs, such as guided reading, homeroom, life skills and sexuality workshops, catch-up, etc.
• Oversee the development of timetables and calendars for all grades and programs; work cooperatively with the Head of Academics to align the timetables and class/subject teaching assignments with staffing structures.
• Directly supervise Curriculum Coordinators and Data Coordinator; develop and manage the termly and weekly work plans for the staff members.
• Take an active role in the Read Smart program, including: oversee termly training, termly coaching visits and management of materials and resources.
• Lead school visitation and monitoring programs done by the curriculum team, including curriculum field visits, Read Smart coaching visits, and any other programs designed to evaluate the implementation of the curriculum.
• Develop and implement training and support for managers and teachers related to any new teaching and learning resources or programs.
• Liaise with MoE officials and/or other NGOs for consultation or for special projects or programs related to teaching and learning resources.
• Support data monitoring and collection related to student performance including termly exams, national exams, and Student Identification Numbers; make and update CommCare surveys as needed.
Requirements:
• Teaching diploma with 4+ years relevant work experience required, degree in education preferred.
• Exceptionally organized with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong understanding of how to develop curriculum resources that support student needs and align with government requirements.
• Experience working with rural community schools.
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal in Cinyanja and English.
• Tech skills: Typing, E-mail, Word, Excel, online and offline applications.
• Punctuality, reliability and strong attention to detail.
This position is based in Katete, Eastern Province.
