Job Description

Job Summary
The Ecologist will conduct field research, environmental assessments, and ecological surveys to monitor and study ecosystems. They will analyze data, prepare reports, and contribute to environmental impact assessments to support conservation and sustainable development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fieldwork, including habitat surveys, species identification, and data collection.
  • Analyze ecological data using statistical software and prepare detailed reports.
  • Assess the impact of human activities on ecosystems and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and ecological management plans.
  • Collaborate with environmental consultants, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with current ecological research and environmental regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on biodiversity conservation and habitat restoration projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in ecological research, environmental consulting, or related work.
  • Strong knowledge of local and regional ecosystems and biodiversity.
  • Proficiency in GIS and other ecological survey tools.
  • Excellent analytical, report writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, often in remote field locations.
  • Membership of a professional body preferred
