TITLE: Education Manager
LOCATION: Lusaka, Zambia
REPORTING TO: Deputy Director of Programs
Job Summary:
The Education Manager will lead the planning, development, and implementation of educational programs within the organization. This role involves managing teaching staff, evaluating and implementing curricula, monitoring student progress, and ensuring adherence to education standards. The Education Manager will foster a positive learning environment, support teacher development, and promote student success, while upholding the organization’s Christian values and ethos.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for seamless student transitions from Pre-School through Grade 12.
- Oversee the implementation of curricula aligned with national standards and organizational goals.
- Manage teaching methodologies and schemes of work for all grades.
- Coordinate the school calendar and after-school programs, focusing on exam preparation and college readiness.
- Stay informed on lessons taught at Nyagwena School and supplement them as needed for examinations.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities to enhance teacher skill sets.
- Introduce and maintain Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for students from Grade 10 to guide academic, career, and personal growth.
- Create and manage annual budgets for educational resources and activities.
- Ensure all academic programs comply with national education standards and organizational policies.
Student Management
- Maintain a well-organized, values-driven learning environment.
- Offer career counselling to students in Grades 10–12.
- Maintain accurate academic and disciplinary records for all students.
- Oversee college students’ academic accounts and progress tracking.
- Plan and manage extracurricular activities to enhance student learning.
- Analyse student performance and provide regular updates to the Executive Office.
Teacher Management
- Monitor teacher attendance and performance to uphold teaching standards.
- Oversee lesson plan preparation and teaching resource allocation.
- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.
- Facilitate training workshops and access to professional development resources.
- Ensure the alignment of teaching methods and materials with curriculum objectives.
- Onboard new teachers with comprehensive orientation programs.
Qualifications:
Education
- A bachelor’s degree in education, Education Administration, or a related field is required, with extensive relevant experience.
- A master’s degree is highly desirable and will be considered an added advantage.
- Certifications in curriculum development or instructional technology are also advantageous.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in education, curriculum design, or instructional leadership.
- Proven leadership or management experience in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with Zambian Grade 1–12 curricula and international education frameworks.
Core Skills
- Strong leadership, goal setting, and delegation abilities.
- Expertise in curriculum development, program implementation, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in designing and analysing assessments to measure learning outcomes.
- Data-driven decision-making skills using tools like Excel or specialized software.
- Effective communication skills for diverse stakeholders.
- Budget management experience for educational programs and resources.
- Knowledge of regulatory educational standards and guidelines.
- Empathy and interpersonal skills to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
