Job Summary
You will be responsible for the repair and upkeep of the electrical and mechanical components, and other furniture and equipment in CRS offices and residences. You will be required to inspect the offices regularly, conduct routine repairs and maintenance, fix and improve faulty wiring and electrical systems, interact and oversee vendor maintenance and repair, and replace electrical appliances and components as needed. This could include, but not limited to the upkeep of water pipes and faucets, wooden furniture, Airconditioning system , fire extinguisher, manage power backup systems such as inverters, solar and genset maintenance and other non-vehicle maintenance by diagnosing problems and then repairing/replacing defective parts.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
· Act quickly to detect and address electrical, mechanical and general repairs when problems occur at CRS offices and Residences and must be able to tell management whether the problem can be corrected and whether business can continue as usual.
· Be available to respond and work on any emergency Maintenance work
· Make periodic inspection of electrical and mechanical services and equipment, and perform repair work, or recommend to management the use of an external vendor for larger or more complicated work.
· Seamlessly manage the ZESCO power purchases for all residences and CRS offices
· Seamlessly manage the supply, optimal and efficient use of grid power and the installed power backup solutions ( Solar, inverter and genset)
· Monitor, track, maintain and provide essential data required for the agency’s Green House Gas (GHG) emission climate change action plan
· Provide required reports and data on the CP’s green energy initiatives in operations
· Operate a variety of standard power tools, hand tools and equipment for electrical, mechanical and general maintenance and repair activities on a regular basis.
· Maintain receipts, records, service completion certificates and logs as needed
· Provide guidance and direction to management to make budget and expenditure decisions on electrical, mechanical and general maintenance needs.
· Support the procurement team to identify vendors for larger and more complicated repairs and maintenance works.
· Examine electrical and mechanical services provided by vendors and serves as the main point of contact with vendors to ensure timely and high-quality services.
· Install, repair and maintain minor plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures and appliances.
· Facilitate for Quarterly Fumigation of Housing & Offices
· Facilitate for the Fire Extinguisher Servicing/Distribution for offices, residences and vehicles
· Facilitate the servicing and management of the Inverter, Air-condition systems and other office equipment servicing requirement at the residences, Sub offices and Country Program office
· Facilitate for commissioning and decommissioning of equipment/assets and track their location. Facilitate payments and account reconciliations for all maintenance services rendered to CRS.
· Ability to handle other general maintenance tasks such as carpentry, painting, masonry, plumbing etc.
· Perform other tasks as instructed by supervisor and management.
Basic Qualifications (BQs)
· Must have an electrical certificate/diploma or better from an accredited institution.
· Must be registered with Engineering Institution of Zambia ( EIZ) as a technician or crafts person
· Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar environment as an electrician and general contractor.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
· Good computer literacy – ability to use a laptop computer for writing reports, creating budgets and writing email.
· Ability to use own initiative to solve problems and be able to work with minimum supervision and at times under pressure.
· Adaptable and team focused and be able to work rotational shift patterns at times.
Required Languages – Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% to support CRS field offices around the country.
