Job Description

KoBold Metals Zambia Limited is a Zambian-led company exploring for the ore deposits that will become the next generation of new mines in Zambia. KoBold Metals Zambia is the Zambian affiliate of KoBold Metals, a U.S.-based company exploring around the world for battery metals using proprietary AI to guide exploration decisions.

KoBold Metals Zambia is building a rapidly growing team of Zambian geologists, data scientists, administrators, operators, and executives to identify, acquire, explore, and develop exploration opportunities and mineral resources drawing upon KoBold’s technology and the expertise of colleagues worldwide.

The Company is now looking to fill the following positions at our Mingomba Exploration Campus in Chililabombwe:

1. Hydro-technicians

The responsibilities of this position include:

Installing, maintaining, and monitoring piezometers, water level loggers and other associated hydrological instruments.
Conducting routine groundwater level measurements and quality sampling to support dewatering strategies.
Supporting rainwater sampling and monitoring for isotope analysis and hydrological studies
Support stream flow water monitoring and sampling through recording flow rates and water levels within the mine license boundary
Support hydrogeologists in providing accurate field data for groundwater models
Maintaining logs and records for water extraction and compliance
Support set up and maintenance of stream gauging stations
Support calibration and preparation of hydrological instruments
Support and assist in cable splicing and rod perforation for piezometer installation
Enforce safety protocols and standard operating procedures during all water management operations
An Exceptional candidate would have the ability to:
Experience in water resources management programs
Collect data off instruments and provide reports to the hydrogeologists
Use satellites to map aerial views for groundwater drainage.
Undertake basic interpretation and analysis of groundwater monitoring results

Qualifications

Full Grade 12 Certificate
Diploma in Water Engineering or Equivalent
Experience in water resource management required
GIS Software Capabilities advantageous

2. Geological Technicians

The responsibilities of this position include:
Collect samples such as soil samples, rock samples, water samples and other natural resource samples for analysis.
Ensure the highest quality of Core orientation is executed on drill core by the team
Ensure compliance with Core Processing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Analyze samples for specific factors like acidity, chemical composition, integrity and structural composition.
Maintain laboratory equipment
Use and preparation of Technical instruments (magnetic susceptibility readings)
Draft reports on activities
Train Geotech Assistants
An Exceptional candidate would have the ability to:
Experience in greenfield exploration programs
Collect data off instruments and provide reports to the geoscience teams
Use satellites to map certain areas using an aerial view and analyze those photographs for specific geologic patterns or landmarks.
Use software to generate reports or data on soil quality of natural resources and to store data for future reference.

Qualifications

Full Grade 12 Certificate
Diploma or equivalent in Geotechnical engineering is advantageous
More than 5 years in mineral exploration

3. TLB /Forklift Operators

Operate equipment in a safe and competent manner
Keeping equipment clean and in good working order.
Ensure daily KPI’s are achieved.
Comply to all Safe Working Procedures established by the company.
Analyse and report defects to the supervisor.
Ensure machine availability and conduct pre/post checks.
Reporting malfunctioning equipment or components with defects to supervisors
Strictly adhering to safety regulations and ensuring potential hazards are minimized

Qualifications

Full Grade 12 Certificate.
Trades Certificate in Automotive mechanics or Heavy-Equipment Repair is an added advantage
Valid Certificates of Competence in Operating Forklifts and/or Backhoe Loaders (Not older than 5 years)
Demonstrable ability to use technology features on earthmoving equipment
At least three (3) years’ experience working mining or construction environment
Valid Driver’s license
