Job Description
The Estate Manager oversees the operations of the tea plantation, ensuring efficient and sustainable tea cultivation and production through the implementation of best agronomic practices and modern farming techniques. This role involves managing the workforce, maintaining high-quality standards, and optimizing agricultural best practices to maximize tea yield and profitability. This position reports to the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee tea estate operations, including land preparation, planting, and harvesting.
- Develop and implement strategies for soil fertility management, integrated pest control, and sustainable agricultural practices to enhance tea crop yield.
- Supervise field workers and ensure adherence to labour and safety regulations.
- Monitor and analyse production data to improve efficiency and output.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and sustainability regulations.
- Manage financial activities, including budgeting, cost control, and financial forecasting, to ensure profitability and efficient resource allocation.
- Oversee quality control to maintain high production standards in tea processing.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
- Grade 12 Certificate with five (5) O Levels.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agroforestry, Plantation Management, Agricultural Engineering, Forestry, Horticulture or a related field.
- Professional membership to a relevant body.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of work experience in management or similar position.
