Job Summary:
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Exploration Geologist to join our growing technical team. The ideal candidate will have practical field experience with base metals exploration and drilling (RC & Core) programs.
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the selected candidate will collaborate closely with the technical team at our exploration site in Luapula Province, Zambia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the technical services team on exploration activities, including geological mapping, remote sensing, geophysics (Magnetics, Resistivity, IP, SP, etc.), and drilling (RC, Core).
- Collect, process, and interpret data using technical software.
- Conduct technical reviews of mineral properties and monitor drilling progress.
- Perform core logging, plotting, and interpretation of drill sections.
- Implement and monitor workflows and procedures (QA/QC).
- Develop comprehensive exploration targets and plans, compile historical data, and manage site databases.
- Conduct surface sampling, mapping, and historical core reviews.
- Support technical aspects of projects, including exploration program planning, supervision, implementation, resource modeling, economic assessments, due diligence, and data auditing.
- Interpret geological structures and deposits through data compilation, integration, and 3D modeling.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and procedures for data generation and analysis.
- Prepare scheduled drilling and progress reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Geology.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a similar role within the mining industry.
- Registered Professional Geologist in Zambia.
- Practical field experience with exploration and evaluation techniques.
- Proficiency in mining software such as Global Mapper, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, MapInfo, AutoCAD, QGIS, Oasis Montage, SURPAC, etc.
- Dynamic and self-motivated individual with leadership and managerial experience.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt and perform in a fast-paced, high-demand work environment.
Job Demands/Physical Requirements:
Willingness to travel to other project sites as required.
