Job Description
Our client, an agricultural chemical and seed company, is seeking to hire three skilled Maintenance Technicians to join their dynamic operations team. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of our facility’s equipment and systems. Your expertise will help maintain the functionality of our manufacturing operations and contribute to the overall productivity of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Identify potential issues before they lead to equipment failure and develop strategies to minimize downtime.
Repairs
- Diagnosing faults, troubleshooting, and ensuring timely repairs of Factory machinery/ equipment with minimum downtime.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to diagnose problems accurately.
- Conduct repairs and replacements on faulty components, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and HVAC systems.
Safety Compliance
- Helps organize and plan, including seasonal prep work, calibration of mechanical requirements within operation unit maintenance of equipment, machines, and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations in the maintenance of equipment.
- Executing preventative maintenance schedule on field or facility equipment and machinery.
- Participation in EHS program implementation and ensure compliance to all safety requirements/ regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment for all employees.
Documentation and Reporting
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections in the maintenance management system.
- Report any recurring issues to management and recommend improvements or upgrades.
Collaboration
- Work closely with operations and production teams to understand maintenance needs and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Assist in training and guiding less experienced technicians or apprentices.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related fields .
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Working knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
- Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., HVAC, electrical) are a plus.
