Job Description

Zambia Sugar Plc is a subsidiary of Illovo Sugar Africa (Pty) Ltd Group and is the leading sugar producer in Zambia.  Its main activities are the growing of sugar cane, the production and marketing of sugar and other sugar downstream products.

The company invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions in the Supply Chain Department:

MHE FORKLIFT OPERATOR x 2 – PERMANENT

SUPPLY CHAIN DEPARTMENT (NAKAMBALA)

This position reports to the Warehouse Foreman.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely, efficiently and effectively operate the relevant material handling equipment (MHE) to ensure warehouse performance and KPI standards and both internal & external customer service expectations are met.
  • Support warehouse performance objectives by adhering to the standards and best practice as defined in the Illovo Logistics Way and Country specific requirements.
  • Operate relevant MHE in a manner that minimises downtime, damage and cost, and with due consideration for all company quality standards.
  • Carry out responsibilities in a manner that supports an ethos of customer centricity and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct pre-shift MHE inspection and provide report to supervisor highlighting all issues.
  • Wash & clean MHE and relevant charging area whilst on shift.
  • Document odometer readings at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Refuel MHE timeously and safely and document all litres dispensed.
  • Work with supervisors in determining the work to be completed whilst on shift.
  • Load and unload all forms of transport speedily and safely as required.
  • Redistribute inventory on site as required.
  • Assist with stacking and unstacking of bins.
  • Ensure Forklift/Asset driver’s license is valid & up to date.
  • Comply with all safety, quality and housekeeping standards and requirements, and drive with care to prevent accidents or incidents, and any related product quality damages.
  • Promote and adhere to Illovo’s procedures, policies and guidelines, including, without limitation, those relating to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC).

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Valid Forklift Drivers’ License
  • Preferably 1 or more years’ driving experience
  • Ability to operate the MHE in a safe and effective manner.
  • Performance and customer-focused, with the ability to work well in a team.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Suitably qualified applicants must provide certificates which have been verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
