About the job Nurse
Position Summary
The nurse operates within the Family Legacy organization to follow-up, advise, and facilitate treatment of specific children from the direction and guidance of the Hill Wellness Center (HWC) Head of Nursing, Clinical Officer, and/or the Chief Medical Director. The Nurse will operate as a licensed nurse, based on professional guidelines from the General Nursing Counsel (GNC). He or she will provide professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide a comprehensive and systematic health assessment on selected children.
- Assist clientele in the appropriate access of medical services as directed by the Head of Nursing, Clinical Officer, and/or Chief Medical Director.
- Conduct health assessment and status updates of children determined to be at-risk from prior medical assessments.
- Provide case management services for the approved children and actively collaborate with the chief medical director in the provision of their care.
- Document care and all health findings while maintaining all records as per national and Health Professions Council of Zambia guidelines and in accordance with GNC.
- Correspond with parents/guardians on health plan and needs of the child.
- Participate in the identification, reporting, and management of students suspected of being abused or neglected.
- Assist in the administration and monitoring of student medications and treatments when appropriate, as per the direction of the Head of Nursing, Clinical Officer, and/or HWC Chief Medical Director.
- Maintain an environment of patient, team member, and employer confidentiality.
- Wear personal protective equipment as per Infection Control and HWC policy.

Position Qualifications
- Hold a Diploma or Degree as a Registered Nurse
- Maintain an active practicing license with the General Nursing Council
- Have 1 year of experience as a clinical nurse
- Current (validated within the last 12 months) CPR, Basic Life Support, and/or Advanced Life Support certification preferred
- Possess the ability to work flexible and extended hours and travel as needed.
- Have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic and professional backgrounds
- Possess a strong desire to make a positive impact in the lives of others
