Brief Description
The plumber is responsible for the maintenance and installation of all pipes and fittings at the hotel. He should coordinate with other members of the department in the different stages of new construction works to facilitate efficient installations. He is tasked with responding to guest and other department plumbing issues such as leaks, blockages, siphon, shower head, faucets, urinals maintenance, etc.
Key Responsibilities of a Plumber:
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and fixtures (such as sinks, toilets, and water heaters) at the hotel and residential houses.
- Collaborate with other maintenance members such as electricians, builders, and other professionals during construction.
- Perform routine inspections of plumbing and drainage systems, identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Complete light construction, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceiling, tile fixing, and light electrical work as required by supervisor/manager.
- Prepare material requirements for maintenance and installation works.
- Keep accurate records of time spent working, description of work performed, and materials used.
- Ensure that all plumbing installations and maintenance works are conducted in a professional and quality manner to achieve guest and other department satisfaction.
- Ensure all work meets safety standards and follows best practices.
- Conduct all maintenance works in a timely manner, minimizing facilities downtime.
- Ensure irrigation equipment is in top-notch condition and work together with gardeners in irrigation rotations.
- Backfill all excavated areas immediately after completion of maintenance and installation works.
- Ensure tiles, pavers, concrete, plaster, etc., are reinstalled after fixing leakages.
- Collaborate with other maintenance members in the installation of booster, borehole, and fountain pumps.
- Have knowledge in the utilization of UPVC, PPR, CPVC, GI, copper, poly pipes, and fittings.
- Use appropriate tools and equipment ensuring safety in conducting installation and maintenance works.
- Monitor water storage facilities to prevent water shortages.
- Carry out geyser and water tank maintenance.
- Monitor septic and soak-away tanks regularly and request for vacuum tank when required.
- Monitor water pressure at different times of the day to ensure proper outlet pressure.
- Investigate leaks and pipe bursts and take corrective action.
- Unclog drains in the kitchen, restaurant, rooms, public areas, etc.

Required Skills for a Plumber:
- Ability to work well with your hands.
- Mechanical skills.
- Communication skills.
- Strong technical knowledge in areas such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Physical stamina.
- Ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure.
- Knowledge of public safety and security.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in plumbing or a related field are a plus.
- Understanding and knowledge of sewage and pipe systems.
