ABOUT SKILLS TO LIVE ZAMBIA
Skills to Live Zambia is a locally registered organization affiliated with Young Africa International and is dedicated to empowering vulnerable youth with skills training for employability and entrepreneurship. Our program integrates vocational training with life skills education, digital literacy, entrepreneurship training, psychosocial support services, and talent development in art and sports. By equipping young people with these essential skills, we ensure they are work-ready, self-reliant, and able to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.
SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
Lead the implementation of Skills To Live Zambia mobile training activity in the district.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A degree in social sciences, entrepreneurship, economics, or other related degree.
- 5+ years of experience managing youth, economic empowerment, and/or international development projects.
- Proven project coordination skills with experience working for the Government and/or a local organization in Zambia
- Strong interpersonal skills and mentoring skills to work effectively with partners/clients.
- A track record that demonstrates energy and creativity, and the ability to successfully prioritize and manage competing priorities.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
- Experience in data processing (Microsoft Word), spread sheet (Microsoft Excel), E-mail, and Internet browser software. Must have a class 3 drivers’ license; Must be willing and able to ride a motorcycle.
MAIN DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
1. Coordination
- Identify and collaborate with SRHR partners.
- Mobilise potential project beneficiaries for research activities.
- Conduct initial project beneficiary screening according to set guidelines.
- Engage and oversee all training activities.
- Identify master crafts persons to provide skills training to youth, plan and ensure implementation of all project activities.
- Ensure availability of space for training activities.
- Develop activity work plans in liaison with the Programs Coordinator.
- Represent the organization in district stakeholder meetings.
- Conduct community awareness/sensitization meetings on the project.
- Organize graduation events for students.
- Submit reports to Government departments as required.
- Promote the health and safety of students.
- Ensure fulfilment of the organization’s roles as stipulated in the MoU with the local authority.
2. Communications Monitoring and Evaluation
Support project research and evaluation activities; compile and submit monthly update reports; organize and conduct post training monitoring sessions; submit weekly activity updates and monthly project reports; monitor student attendance, follow-up and document reasons for absenteeism; collect and consolidate statistical data as required by the project.
3. Financial Management
Implement activities in accordance with project or activity budgets; ensure project equipment and materials are secure and accounted for; ensure that all payments due to service providers
are made timeously, apply the organization’s policies in requesting, using and accounting for resources; consult with Finance and Administration Officer regarding best practices for financial administration of organizational work in the mobile training location.
4. Relationships
Reports to the Programmes Coordinator; Work closely and in liaison with the Finance and Administration Officer at Head Office; Engage with stakeholders and other organizations in the district
5. Project Implementation and management
Assist programmes team in any other projects related tasks and duties as assigned from time to time, including but not limited to project monitoring and evaluation, project reporting. Works directly with the Programmes Coordinator, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, , Business Development Officer and Sexual reproductive Health Officer
