Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Programme Operations Intern shall acquire experience and learning regarding the operations and technical aspects of the Integrated Land and Resource Governance (ILRG II) program. The intern shall gain insights into the operational work of the project by assisting on administrative and logistical tasks, as well as grow her/his technical experience by working closely with ILRG II’s grant program, among other activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Example tasks under this internship include but are not limited to support with:

1. Procurement:

a. Preparing requisition requests

b. Preparing RFQs and communicating with vendors

c. Procuring office supplies

d. Receiving goods and preparing goods received notes (GRNs)

e. Preparing ZRA LPOs

f. Updating the project asset register/inventory

2. Operations

a. Coordinating workshops/trainings: securing the venue, getting quotations, preparing payment schedules for participants, and ensuring that everything is in place for the successful hosting of events.

b. Office Management – ensuring that electricity units & office supplies are monitored.

3. Technical

a. Management of grants, as needed

b. Management of the project grants tracker, monitoring dues dates and working closely with the Grant manager

c. Data cleaning

d. Other technical tasks according to project needs and the learning interests of the intern.

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree (or higher)

– No work experience required

– Preference for a candidate with interest in international development

– Preference for a candidate with interest in land, natural resource management and gender equality and social inclusion issues.

EDUCATION:

– Bachelor’s degree (or higher), preferably in a related field.

SKILLS:

– Highly Collaborative: ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve project goals.

– Organizational Skills: strong time management and prioritization abilities; ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines; attention to detail in organizing resources and documentation.

– Communication: clear and concise written and verbal communication; ability to communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and clients, active listening and asking relevant questions.

– Team Collaboration: ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team; ability to support team members and contribute to group goals; willingness to take feedback and incorporate improvements.

– Technological Proficiency: basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with collaboration tools like Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace, or ability to learn; quick learner of new software and tools relevant to program operations.

– Attention to Detail: high level of accuracy in all tasks, from data entry to report generation; careful proofreading and quality control on documents and communications; methodical approach to task execution.
