Key Duties and Accountabilities
1. Clinical Duties:
Within the delegated authority, the Nurse shall be responsible for the following duties:
- Attend the Hawthorns Clinic on a part-time basis.
- Assist the Hawthorns Physician in the performance of his/her duties.
- Respond to emergency calls during outside office hours when necessary and assist Medical Doctors in providing adequate care.
- Ensure effective liaison between patient and doctor, paramedics, family members, and colleagues as appropriate.
- Document case findings.
- Perform diagnostic and screening tests such as: ECG, x-rays, laboratory (blood and urine), and other tests as required.
- Perform clinical assessment of patients visiting the walk-in clinic.
- Assist in providing health education and health promotion programs.
- Assess needs of clients visiting the walk-in clinic, provide care/advice (e.g., the benefits of preventive medicine etc.) accordingly, and facilitate referral to the Hawthorns Medical Physician or to an outside physician, as indicated.
- Administer minor “outpatient” treatment and immunization requirements.
- Assist in maintaining records of patients’ medical data including consultations and treatment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality with regards to patient’s medical records, patient management, and treatment.
- Perform medication, injection, dressing, stitching, foreign body extraction, etc., as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Diploma in Registered Nursing or country equivalent.
- Current NMCZ Practising Licence.
- Attention to detail.
- Highly computer literate.
- 2 years experience as a registered nurse.
