Job Description

Job Title: Storesman
Location: Ndola, Zambia
Department: Finance Department

Job Overview:
The Storesman is responsible for ensuring the accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods within the warehouse or distribution center. The role includes maintaining accurate inventory records, assisting with logistical processes, and ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the warehouse. The Storesman plays a key role in supporting the smooth flow of operations and helping meet the demands of both internal teams and customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Receiving Goods:
Inspect incoming deliveries for accuracy, quality, and damage.
Unload goods from delivery trucks and ensure they are stored in appropriate locations.
Record the receipt of goods and update inventory systems to reflect incoming stock.
Storage and Organization:
Store products and materials in designated locations such as shelves, racks, or pallets.
Ensure products are safely and securely stacked to prevent damage or accidents.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
Inventory Management:
Conduct regular stock checks and assist with periodic inventory counts.
Track inventory levels and ensure products are reordered when stock is low.
Manage stock movements (incoming and outgoing) using inventory software, ensuring accurate records.
Order Fulfillment:
Pick and pack orders according to customer or internal department requirements.
Ensure orders are prepared for dispatch, including proper labeling, packaging, and required documentation.
Coordinate with the shipping team to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
Loading and Dispatching Goods:
Load products onto trucks or delivery vehicles in an efficient and organized manner.
Verify that dispatching is done accurately, according to the shipping schedule, and with proper documentation.
Health and Safety:
Ensure compliance with warehouse safety regulations and protocols.
Maintain a safe working environment by following best practices in material handling and equipment operation.
Report any safety hazards, accidents, or equipment malfunctions to management.
Customer Service:
Assist internal teams with inquiries regarding stock availability, orders, and deliveries.
Provide support in locating or tracking items for customers or other departments.
General Administration:
Update and maintain accurate inventory records, logs, and other documentation.
Assist with order processing and necessary paperwork for inventory movement.
Communicate effectively with the warehouse manager and team members to ensure smooth operations.
Skills & Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of warehouse operations and logistics.
Proficiency with inventory management software and basic computer skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Good physical stamina, with the ability to lift and carry goods as necessary.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and other departments.
Knowledge of safety regulations and practices within a warehouse environment.
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry items as required by the role (up to 25-30kg).
Standing, walking, bending, and moving throughout the warehouse are necessary for most of the workday.
