Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS) was enacted through an Act of Parliament (ZCAS Act No. 1 of 1989) for the purpose of training accountants, promoting research and advancement of learning in accountancy, finance, and related studies, providing advisory and consultancy services, and for related matters.
ZCAS seeks to recruit qualified and experienced persons to fill the position of Student Admissions and Retention Officer (e-Learning).
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Director of Professional Studies, the position is responsible for promoting, managing, and optimizing e-Learning programmes to attract new students and retain existing ones.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides a seamless e-Learning experience by supporting students throughout their admission process and ensuring their academic engagement and success in a virtual learning environment.
2. Implements strategies that increase student retention by providing support services, fostering engagement, and addressing student challenges in the e-Learning ecosystem.
3. Manages the online application process for prospective students, ensuring that all application materials and procedures are easily accessible and user-friendly.
4. Provides guidance to prospective students about program offerings, entry requirements, and application deadlines.
5. Organizes and hosts virtual information sessions and webinars for prospective students to learn about the institution’s e-Learning programs.
6. Provides clear and timely communication regarding the status of applications and any additional information required.
7. Creates and implements comprehensive online orientation programs that familiarize new students with the institution’s e-Learning platforms, resources, and academic expectations.
8. Provides guidance on the use of the learning management system (LMS), online library resources, and other digital tools needed for e-Learning success.
9. Encourages new students to engage in virtual student communities and peer-support groups to enhance their social integration and sense of belonging.
10. Tracks student activity on the e-Learning platform to identify engagement levels and provide timely interventions for those who may be struggling or disengaged.
11. Develops and implements retention programs that support at-risk students, such as online mentoring, academic advising, and personal development workshops.
12. Analyzes student data with respect to student retention trends and success rates.
13. Identifies potential challenges that may cause students to drop out and creates action plans to address these issues.
14. Provides continuous personalized support and follow-ups for students throughout their e-Learning journey, ensuring that they feel supported both academically and emotionally.
15. Maintains an accurate record of online applicants and registrants on the SIS and Navision systems and comply with all good practice guidance including data protection and security of data.
16. Collaborates with faculty and academic advisors to ensure that students receive the academic support they need, such as course planning, study strategies, and exam preparation resources.
17. Acts as a liaison between students and technical support teams to resolve issues related to accessing eLearning platforms, course materials, or other technical challenges.
18. Establishes channels for student feedback regarding their e-Learning experience and use this feedback to make continuous improvements to student services.
19. Analyzes LMS usage reports to identify popular content, high-traffic periods, and potential issues with course navigation or resource accessibility.
20. Works with the marketing team to ensure that the institution’s website, social media platforms, and other digital marketing channels are optimized for eLearning recruitment.
21. Tracks the effectiveness of eLearning recruitment efforts and adjust marketing strategies as needed.
22. Participates in the development and implementation of policies related to online admissions, retention, and student support.
23. Collaborates with other units to ensure a good eLearning environment suitable for students’ learner support.
24. Performs any other duties lawfully assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
1. Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum of five (5) “O” levels including English and Mathematics.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology or Social Sciences from a recognized accredited University.
3. Master’s degree in Business Administration/Information Technology is an added advantage
4. Three (3) years relevant work experience in student admissions or e-learning coordination in a learning institution.
5. Must be Computer literate.
