Job Summary
Our client in the education industry is seeking for a Student Advisor to join their team. The Student Advisor will support students in identifying suitable educational programs and career opportunities that align with their interests and goals. This role involves counselling students on academic and career paths, assisting with application processes, and providing support for financial aid and scholarship options. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the educational landscape and a passion for guiding students through important academic and career decisions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Student Counselling and Guidance
- Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions to understand students’ academic backgrounds, goals, and interests.
- Advise students on various academic programs, institutions, and career options both locally and internationally.
- Help students identify courses and programs that best match their aspirations and qualifications.
2. Application Assistance
- Guide students through the application process, including documentation, deadlines, and specific requirements for each institution or program.
- Assist students in preparing application materials, such as statements of purpose, resumes, and reference letters.
- Support students in navigating online application platforms and submitting required documents.
3. Financial Aid & Scholarship Support
- Provide information on scholarships, grants, and financial aid options available for students.
- Assist students with scholarship application processes, including writing assistance, application review, and meeting eligibility requirements.
- Advise students on budgeting and managing educational expenses.
4. Academic Preparation & Transition Support
- Offer resources and guidance to help students prepare academically and personally for their chosen programs.
- Organize workshops, webinars, or informational sessions on topics such as academic success, cultural adaptation, and career readiness.
- Help students prepare for exams like IELTS, TOEFL, SAT, etc., if required for international programs.
5. Follow-up and Student Success Tracking
- Maintain regular contact with students to track their application status and provide ongoing support as needed.
- Follow up with students after enrolment to check on their academic progress and personal well-being.
- Gather feedback to improve services and identify areas where students may need additional support.
6. Information and Resource Management
- Stay updated on educational program offerings, institutional requirements, and changes in the academic landscape.
- Develop informational materials and maintain resource databases on programs, scholarships, and application processes.
- Assist in creating informational content for the DALP Consultancy website, social media, and newsletters to inform prospective students and parents.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in academic advising, student counselling, or related fields, preferably in the education or consultancy sector.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine interest in supporting student success.
- Knowledge of scholarship programs, financial aid options, and educational institutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital platforms for virtual advising.
