Position Title: Training Coordinator
Location: Lusaka
Reports to: Director Private Sector Engagement

Program Overview:

The USAID Zambia Accessible Markets for Health (ZAM-Health) project is a five-year project aimed to expand the availability and accessibility of high-quality health products and services in the private sector, improve health knowledge, and increase the adoption of healthy and health-seeking behaviors. The program uses marketing, and partnerships with for-profit and non-profit entities to achieve these outcomes. USAID ZAM-Health is implemented by Coalition Health Zambia (CHZ) formerly John Snow Health Zambia (JSH) in partnership with John Snow, Inc. (JSI), PharmAccess and Mopani Copper Mines.

The USAID Zambia Accessible Markets for Health project, through PharmAccess, seeks to enhance the financial and operational capacity of private healthcare facilities in Zambia. As part of this initiative, the Business Advisory Program (BAP) was developed to formalize private healthcare enterprises and enhance their investment readiness. This phased program focuses on building the capacity of healthcare facilities through workshops, technical assistance, and linkages with business service providers.

Role Summary:

The Training Coordinator will oversee and coordinate all training activities for healthcare facilities across the four provinces (Lusaka, Copperbelt, Central, and Southern). This includes organizing workshops, managing training materials, tracking participant progress, and ensuring smooth operations. The role also involves working closely with the Senior Advisor – Private Sector Engagement, external facilitators and internal stakeholders to ensure that the BAP meets its objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Training Program Coordination:

  • Plan, organize, and execute workshops for healthcare facilities across the four provinces.
  • Coordinate with internal and external facilitators the delivery of a series of 6 workshops spread across 6 months.
  • Ensure logistical arrangements such as venues, meals, accommodation, and transport are in place.

Participant Engagement and Monitoring:

  • Track participant progress and engagement throughout the training program.
  • Maintain records of participant attendance, training materials, and feedback.

Workshop Facilitation and Support:

  • Facilitate selected modules and support expert facilitators during workshops.
  • Manage and implement business simulation games and other interactive learning methods.

Technical Assistance Support:

  • Assist in identifying healthcare facilities ready for transition to Tier 2 of the Business Advisory Program and recommend them for one-on-one technical assistance.

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Use monitoring tools, including the Health Business Assessment Tool, to document the progress of facilities.
  • Prepare regular reports on workshop outcomes, participant feedback, and program indicators (e.g., the number of workshops delivered, the number of facilities assessed).
  • Provide input for the work plan development, budgeting and morning
  • Contribute to timely review and completion of project monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Attend project related and task team technical meetings and debriefings

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Undergraduate and Master’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Banking and Finance, or a related field. A qualification in Health Management is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in coordinating training programs, preferably within the healthcare or SME development sectors.
  • Strong organizational and logistical planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in training and capacity building.
  • Understanding of access to finance and business management principles, particularly for SMEs in the healthcare sector.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects, especially USAID-funded initiatives, is an advantage.
  • Ability to travel frequently to the Copperbelt, Central, and Southern Provinces.
