Job Description

Our client, an innovative brand offering fashionable beauty products, stylish accessories, quality lifestyle items and fun stationery and toys, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Transport Assistant to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the transportation logistics ensuring timely and efficient delivery of people and goods.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate with managers to determine transport requirements and schedule transport to meet them.
  • Assist with assessments of local transportation resources and infrastructure, and the contracting of transportation assets;
  • Responsible for collection and delivery documents and materials as well as any other messenger duties to enable the smooth flow of work.
  • Transporting of staff to and from sites to ensure the smooth flow of operations and ensuring safety of staff.
  • Adhering policies and procedures on vehicle management and maintaining the vehicle logbook for each vehicle as per the set guidelines.
  • Ensure the appropriate use, maintenance and repair of all vehicles, motorcycles and trucks;
  • Ensure all company vehicles are serviced and roadworthy.
  • Keep documents current such as registration, insurance, vehicle logs, daily inspection reports, etc.
  • Support with the hire, training and supervision of other drivers that may be hired in future.
  • Facilitate the annual registration and fitness of vehicles, motorcycles and trucks;
  • Support with administrative duties as needed
  • Any and all other tasks or responsibilities as requested by Supervisor

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a Grade 12 Certificate
  • Must hold a Craft Certificate or Trade Certificate in Mechanics; a degree is an added advantage
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for motorbikes, vehicles and light trucks and a clean driving record
  • Must have at least 2 Years experience in a similar role.
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office especially Ms Excel for data analysis, inventory and communication purposes
  • Effective communication, including writing, speaking and interpersonal communication
  • Quick critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent customer service and client relations skills
  • Must be organised and also be able manage time and inventory (asset and spare part stock management) well
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrable professionalism and focus on service.
