Job Description

Looking for a Warehouse Specialist to oversee warehouse operations, including goods receipt, dispatch, inventory control, and storage organisation. The role involves ensuring accurate stock management, efficient storage, and timely dispatch while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Warehouse Operations & Inventory Management:

  • Oversee goods receipt and dispatch, ensuring accuracy in inventory records.
  • Plan and optimise storage locations to maximise warehouse space and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks using various measurement methods (weight, quantity) and reconcile any discrepancies.

2. Goods Identification & Quality Control:

  • Accurately identify different types of goods, including raw materials (polymers, non-woven fabrics), kitchenware, steel products, hardware, electronic appliances, and fast-moving consumer goods.
  • Perform quality inspections to detect issues such as overstock, shortages, and damages, ensuring compliance with storage requirements.

3. Logistics & Order Fulfilment:

  • Efficiently handle the inbound and outbound movement of goods to ensure timely deliveries and accurate receipts.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams to manage the dispatch and receiving processes.

4. Storage & Warehouse Organisation:

  • Implement proper goods stacking techniques to maintain order and ensure safety.
  • Maintain compliance with 6S warehouse management (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain, Safety) for a clean and organised work environment.

5. Tool & System Management:

  • Operate the Warehouse Management System (WMS) for accurate goods tracking and inventory management.
  • Use common warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet trucks, and perform basic maintenance when necessary.

6. Communication & Collaboration:

  • Work closely with loaders, issuing and offloading specialists, and other departments to ensure smooth warehouse operations.
  • Quickly address and resolve any warehouse-related issues.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in warehouse management, goods receipt/dispatch, and inventory control.
  • Experience in Zambia’s trading warehouses is preferred.
  • Outstanding fresh graduates and excellent interns will be considered for training and growth opportunities.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong computational skills for accurate inventory calculations.
  • Ability to identify and handle various goods based on their characteristics and storage requirements.
  • Proficiency in goods quality inspection, ensuring accurate stock levels and product integrity.
  • Skilled in warehouse stacking techniques for efficient storage and safety.
  • Familiarity with 6S warehouse management principles to maintain a clean and organised environment.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in using the Warehouse Management System (WMS) for stock tracking.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet trucks, and other warehousing equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment maintenance.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong sense of responsibility and safety awareness.
  • Ability to handle high-intensity work and overtime, especially during peak periods.
  • Detail-oriented, patient, and capable of working under pressure.
