Good Time Steel is a renowned Steel manufacturing company, it is a group of companies where African Power Coal Mine is a subsidiary as we continue to grow and expand our reach, we are seeking a skilled and passionate Public Relations Officer to join our team under African Power Coal Mine and help us effectively communicate our message to the public.

Job Description:
As a Public Relations Officer at African Power Coal, you will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication initiatives to enhance our brand image and reputation. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to create compelling content, manage media relations, and execute PR campaigns that align with our company’s goals and values. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our organization and shape public perception through innovative PR strategies.

Responsibilities:
– Develop and implement strategic PR plans to promote African Power Coal Mine and its initiatives
– Cultivate and maintain relationships with media contacts, journalists, and influencers
– Write press releases, articles, and other PR materials to communicate key messages to the media and public
– Coordinate media interviews, press conferences, and other PR events
– Monitor media coverage and social media channels to track public sentiment and respond to inquiries or issues as needed
– Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels
– Identify opportunities for media coverage and thought leadership opportunities for company executives
– Measure and analyze the effectiveness of PR campaigns and provide regular reports to management
– Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in PR and communication

Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in public relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (preferred)
– Proven experience of at-least 3 years and above in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for different audiences
– Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
– Creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and PR strategy development
– Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
– Proficiency in media monitoring and PR measurement tools/software
– Experience with social media management and digital PR strategies is a plus
