1. WORKSHOP SUPERIENTENDENTS X 2 – KALUMBILA SITE

Position Description

This position reports to the Project Manager. Successful candidate will be responsible for the below duties.

  • Develop short, medium, and long-term integrated maintenance schedules of work that optimizes equipment downtime, resources, costs, and, which reduces long term equipment integrity risk.
  • Undertake reliability improvement programs that include defect elimination, equipment condition risk and contingency planning, Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) compliance of work executed.
  • Develop life cycle costs models for critical assets that optimize costs, and which identify repair v replacement decisions.
  • Develop fully planned work scopes for future planned work schedules.
  • Develop and update master data into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for new and existing equipment.
  • Ensuring all technical faults and breakdowns are dealt with expeditiously and economically.
  • Ensure compliance by all subordinates to all Quality, Health & Safety standards on the mine as may be specified by legal and other associated requirements and providing periodic reports as and when required.
  • Performs trouble shooting and diagnostics procedure on mine equipment and vehicles.
  • Record observations and findings during diagnostics run and decide on the correct method of repair, as necessary.
  • Supervise and follow up on actual progress of each individual repair job.
  • Provide on-the-job training as well as coaching and mentoring to mechanics and helpers.
  • Follow up repair order, registering the time taken to complete each task.
  • Responsible for reliability and dependability by providing all fields with the technical assistance that they require from the workshop.
  • Evaluate the training requirements of his subordinates and discuss/ agree training needs with the subordinates.
  • Conduct final check/test driving for all HEMM equipment/vehicles prior to release.
  • Responsible for implementing HSEQ standards within the workshop.
  • Test and approve operators for truck, excavator, loaders, cranes, grader, backhoe and dump trucks.
  • Assists with the interviewing and conducts heads-on testing of technical applicants.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisal of all direct subordinates.
  • Signs and approves employee timesheets.
  • Support and full comply with company and departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Full Grade Twelve Certificate.
  • Degree in Mechanical/ Electrical/ industrial Engineering
  • Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia
  • Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license.
  • Minimum of 5 years mining experience with demonstrated experience in large multi pit operations maintaining large-scale heavy mobile equipment and Original Equipment Maintenance OEM requirements
  • Demonstrated competency in equipment strategy development using Root Cause Analysis (RCM) methods, life cycle costing, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), long term planning, shutdown management, budget development and cost forecasting.
  • Demonstrated competency in condition monitoring techniques and data interpretation.
  • Demonstrated understanding and compliance with mining regulations
  • Has strong proficiency in the use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
